Humans need battles

A Call for a New Renaissance. A quest, a war, not with people but with oneself

People look at me in a weird way when I tell them I don’t use social media, as if I’m the one who is weird here for not wanting to rot my brain on mind-numbing substances. In this insane world, any act of sanity will be questioned, that is what I tell myself.

Most of our ancestors were experienced explorers, hunters, warriors, and leaders by the same age. Yet today, most 25-year-olds are cogs in corporations, working jobs they hate, spending their time in sterile rooms and meaningless meetings, cycling through dopamine addictions. Their greatest adventure is a quest in a video game, and their greatest fear is approaching another person.

People need more than this, but because of modern comforts and sedation, most forget to want more.

The Middle Children of History

We are the middle children of history — without purpose, without place. We have no Great War, no Great Depression. Our great war is a spiritual war. Our great depression is our lives.

This famous scene from Fight Club captures the essence of the modern plight — what people need but lack. No matter how much society tries to misunderstand it, people need frontiers.
